President's welcome to the 2017 season
On behalf of the Executive Committee of North West Sydney Hockey Association I would like to formally welcome everyone to the 2017 season. This year (yes it is already 2017!) we have a new look Executive team that was appointed at the Annual General Meeting held in November.
Andrew Blamey, our inaugural President, has done a fantastic job in establishing the Association has stepped down and will continue on the Executive as Vice President. Andrew will continue to be involved in preparing the Representative calendar and teams for 2017. David Hewish (Secretary) and Adrian Wilson (Treasurer) who have served on the Executive and coordinated the Rep program with Andrew have stepped down from their roles. Andrew Attard (VP) has also stepped down. Carol Sheridan did a great job coordinating the Womens Masters. Penny Waterson pursued game development in the Parramatta region. I would like to thank them for their contribution and commitment to the association. Liam Dixon, who was Vice President in 2016 and looked after all of the Uniforms and equipment has moved into the Treasurer's role.
We have 3 new Member of the committee:
Ruth Dorman has taken on the role of the second Vice President. Ruth was previously a Regional Coaching Co-ordinator with Hockey NSW and has been involved in junior representative hockey. James Birkefeld who has also been involved in Junior representative hockey has taken on the role of Secretary. I have taken on the President role. I have previously been involved in Junior representative hockey and am still Treasurer of North Area Junior Hockey Association.
Whilst we have all been enjoying the Christmas and New Years break, building on the success of the initial 2 years of our existence the Executive has been working on a number of things to make the 2017 an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all players and clubs who are part of our association.
- developing our plans for the next 3 years to enhance the growth and development of hockey in the region
- developing the 2017 representative calendar and organising trial games for our representative teams
- booking accommodation for representative carnivals
- working with hockey NSW to implement the new short side game format in U7, U9 and U11 hockey
- implementing the new registration system in conjunction with Hockey NSW
In coming weeks more details will become available regarding dates, events and programs being run by the Association so keep you eye on the Web site and emails that we will send via your club contacts for more information.
We are all looking forward to a wonderful 2017 Season ! If you have any questions or issues you would like to raise or would like us to address as an Association, please feel free to get in touch with any member of the Executive team.
